Jog-a-Thon

Thank you!  What an amazing and overwhelming response we had to this fundraiser.  Not only did lots of pledge sheets come in, but we had great parent volunteers on the day of the event.  This is a very generous group and we feel very lucky to be able to work with you.

Assembly

Veterans Day Assembly, Tuesday, November 10:  In recognition of their military service to the United States of America, Briarwood Elementary would like to cordially invite all military veteran alumni to be our honored guests at Briarwood’s Veterans Day Assembly on Tuesday, November 10 at 2:15 pm in the Briarwood Elementary gym.  Active duty military and veterans should feel free to wear military uniforms, as appropriate.

Masquerade Bash

This Friday is our Masquerade Bash.  We ask that the kids come with their inventor costume and props in a bag, rather than on their body.  We will give them time to change into their disguise before they reveal their mystery inventor.  We will have stations, the Word Study quiz, and PE and music to squeak in as well!  Busy, busy!!  Thank you to everyone who stepped up to help with food and decorations.  The number of responses was staggering.  Thanks, in particular, to Myrriah Hayden for organizing everything.  I really appreciate all you do.

School Supplies

Some kids are missing some items that may have been used up or lost along the way.  Please chat with your student to see if they need anything replaced, such as white board markers, scissors, and the like.  Thanks.

Conferences

We will hold our conferences November 3-5.  On the 3rd and 4th there is no school for students.  All conferences are 30 minutes and we ask that your child attend.  If you have forgotten your conference time, please email us or check the conference link below.

Reading Response Journal

Thank you for all of your support with the RRJ at home.  Fourth grade parents tend to put more time in with this project in the fall than at any other time.  As the year progresses, the students should become increasingly independent with their book choices and responses, and by fifth grade they should be doing the majority of the work independently.  With that being said, if your child would like us to edit or critique a response before the final due date, we are happy to oblige.  Just have your child bring us their RRJ and we will be happy to work with them.

Dates to Remember:

Wendy Marsh & Tina Wear
