Writing Assessment Partnership

We are excited to introduce a Writing Assessment Partnership with Shooting S.T.A.R.S. parents. Our program will be based on the program currently in place at Maywood. This partnership will provide training for parents on the criteria and procedures currently used in District and State writing assessments. There are tremendous benefits from this program:

Parents have a clearer understanding of the state writing expectations and can better help their own students;

Students receive faster feedback on their assignments since 54 student papers are divided between 5-10 Partnership scorers instead of only two teacher scorers;

Students receive feedback from a variety of scorers, giving them a better overall picture of their success;

Teachers receive additional feedback in the strengths and weaknesses of their students' writing abilities and can better focus future writing strategies/ assignments; and

Teachers receive help in scoring mountains of papers!
