| Math:
One of the many important things that
our students need to practice is multiplication facts.
Multiplication is used for numerous mathematical concepts.
Students need to know their facts for story problems, geometry and to
help them learn division as well! Our fourth grade students are
"on the chart"! Every Tuesday and Thursday, students take a test
for the level they are at. They are given 30 problems to complete
in one minute. They are allowed to miss/skip two problems
and still move on to the next number. Encourage you student to
study these facts! This is an easy concept to squeeze into any
part of your day! Quiz your child before they go to bed, in the
car while you run an errand or while doing any household chores.
The more they practice, the more solid their skills become, and they
won't forget what they learn. |
| Reading:
Students are expected to be reading ALL the time!
Consistent reading is a huge help in building vocabulary, better
spelling skills and of course, lends itself to increasing comprehension
skills (aside from the fact that it is an enjoyable way to spend time)!
If you are having a hard time getting your student to read, be sure to
get them started on something they enjoy! A comic book may not be
the BEST reading material, but it is still reading....
Consider promoting an educational magazine! Maybe this will help to get
your student interested in reading more! |
